A box to hold their flaming hate
A box to hold their frozen fear
A box to hold so many nightmares
A box to hold one man's soul
Eternity united
To confront the Lord of Time
To save themselves
From the Silence
They imprisoned him
And murdered his friend
A box to hold the coming storm
A box to hold the destroyer of worlds
A box to hold the end of all
A box to hold destruction's toy
He screamed in protest
To no avail
The hosts of his enemies
Stood heartless
As they saved themselves
But killed themselves
A box to hold the protector of all
A box to hold the universe's guardian
A box to hold the hope of many
A box to hold the Champion of Time

Written immediately after I wrote The Pandorica Closes. It's like a dam--once I start I have a hard time stopping...which is good but bad.
I've no idea where the phrase "destructions toy" came from but the rhythm seemed to fit so it stayed.
It was River they ought to have locked up...even though she's cooler than bow ties and badder than beans. (Don't you love my terminology? XD)
I just noticed how XD) denotes a double chin. But I digress.
Yay! I finally managed to make a poem with a set pattern without trying too hard! That's really hard to do (with the exception of haiku and occasionally limerics)
